Kathleen Hiltner: Executive Showcase Profile

by South Jersey Biz

Senior Vice President-Business Development/Branch Administration
Liberty Bell Bank, A Division of The Bank of Delmarva

A seasoned banking executive in the industry for over 30 years, Kathleen Hiltner learned early in her career when she started out as a bank teller at a small community bank that community involvement is very important.

“That’s where you meet people, find resources to help other people and develop relationships with those customers that become really important,” Hiltner says. “When they have an issue, whether it be a person or business, they come to the banker and talk about it. I think that’s really important, and it creates relationships that last and loyalty from the customer.”

Hiltner still feels this way today and is even more passionate about creating relationships and trust with her customers as Senior Vice President at Liberty Bell Bank, A Division of The Bank of Delmarva. Liberty Bell Bank is still considered a small community bank providing personalized services to its customers and they are able to better serve its customers as well, offering them growth and more options.

“It’s really important to better service our customers, and we’re still able to have personalized relationships with them,” Hiltner says. “Sometimes with larger banks they give you quotas and you have to meet them—that’s not servicing the customer. Because we’re bigger we can provide more products and services to our customers. At the same time, we are also available to customers anytime. My customers have my cell phone number and it’s not uncommon for me to get a phone call on a Saturday saying they have an issue and asking if we can help with it first thing Monday. They are our priority.”
Community involvement has also provided Hiltner with opportunities to meet more people and help them along the way, including being one of the first women who joined the Moorestown Rotary Club in 1988something she says plays a huge part in her life. She is also the incoming President for the Moorestown Business Association and is involved with the Marlton Business Association and the Evesham Township School Education Foundation.
My days are fun and never dull; it’s never the same because you’re dealing with people,” she says. “I’m very fortunate. We only get one life, there’s no redo, there’s no rewind. Do what you can to make an impact because you only get one chance.”
