Peterson Service Company, Inc.: Family-Owned Business Showcase
Renee Fiorelli is a second-generation owner of Peterson Service Company, a commercial HVAC and smart building controls company started by her father, Sam Peterson, in 1981. Early on Fiorelli prepared to lead the company and takes pride in running her family-owned business in a male-dominated industry.
“I always knew I wanted to be a part of the business,” Fiorelli says. “I picked mechanical engineering in college for the purpose that I knew it would serve me well to enter this industry. It was important to me.
“I've met a lot of great people and really enjoy working with our customers and meeting new people, providing solutions for all types of different buildings and problem-solving for customers. The industry has changed where originally there were very few women. As we’ve grown, it’s given me the opportunity to get more involved in the industry, and to serve on various boards and committees.”
It’s a true family affair with Fiorelli’s brother-in-law, Mark Tepes, a part of the company as well as vice president.
“We have a great team that exemplifies our core values and demonstrates them each day,” Tepes says. “We’ve become a strong mid-size family company for this region. Renee and I enjoy the business and our industry and look forward to giving our children the opportunity to continue in our footsteps.”
“We’ve grown over the years, but we haven’t gotten too big where we’ve lost the personal touch with our customers. They stay with us for a long time.”
