Corner Office: Executive Q&A
What do you think networking events will look like in the future?
Christina Renna
President and CEO, Chamber of Commerce Southern New Jersey
“I believe there will be major changes to networking in the future. Less hand shaking and more spacious venues for events to start. But I also think some have found virtual networking events to be valuable in a different way than in-person events. I expect organizations that rely on connecting people to use a hybrid of both styles in a post-COVID-19 world.”
Janet Garrity
Interim President, Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce
“In the short-term, video conferences will continue. Any in-person networking will be done in small groups in open spaces. Longer term, I think networking will return to the in-person model. Despite our reliance on our devices, COVID-19 has taught us that people crave in-person contact. Zoom cannot replace that. I believe, however, that chambers will continue to leverage video conferencing as a business practice. You will see more video conferencing options, which can accommodate bigger and more remote audiences.”
