And when it comes to budgeting, they say, ‘Well, we made money last year. What did we spend? Maybe this is going to increase 2-3%.’ So they’re just budgeting by gut,” says owner George Hutchinson.
Hutchinson and his staff look for redundancies in the budget and examine other expenses to see if there are any ways to reduce necessary costs.
There’s no fee for their service, with Hutchinson Business Solutions instead making its money through residuals paid throughout the course of their contracts with the companies that hire them.
“I’m not selling anything specific because I don’t know what their needs are. I basically say, ‘What challenges do you have, and what haven’t you looked at recently?’ … In business, the whole thing that I base my premise on is people want to deal with people that they know, they feel comfortable with and can trust,” says Hutchinson.
