For 25-plus years, Tony Bawidamann has led legislative and public affairs campaigns for some of the nation’s most recognized companies, including Bristol Myers Squibb, McDonald’s and more. He is currently vice president of government and regulatory affairs for Comcast and also serves as chairman of the New Jobs PAC, New Jersey’s oldest and largest business PAC, which supports pro-business elected officials.

We asked him about how working with outside partners can benefit the business landscape as a whole.

Building strategic external partnerships…
By working with external partners, whether industry groups, community organizations, labor, academia or policymakers, companies can gain valuable insights, share resources, reduce risk, and accelerate problem-solving. These relationships also help businesses better anticipate regulatory, workforce and market changes.

The benefits at the local level and statewide…
At the local level, collaborative partnerships can spur job creation, expand workforce development pipelines and attract infrastructure investment—directly strengthening the communities where businesses operate. When businesses align with trusted partners, the benefits extend well beyond individual companies, creating positive ripple effects across entire industries and regions.

How the New Jobs PAC helped grow the state’s business community…
The New Jobs PAC has played an important role by bringing together business leaders, policymakers and stakeholders to support pro-growth, pro-jobs economic policies. The PAC has helped ensure that the business community has a strong and effective voice. That has contributed to policies that encourage investment, job creation and long-term economic stability across the state.
