The clients interested in learning are the ones who have been with me the longest. Others are looking for someone to tell them what to do, but I’m not that person. I’m going to share information, but ultimately, a business owner has the right to make decisions based on what works for them. From my perspective, being proactive is key, and appreciating your trusted advisor’s value makes tax season a lot less stressful.

 

Many clients this year did projections with us—which is like a dress rehearsal for the tax return—and they were amazed at how their business grew. Sometimes you’re so in the weeds of the day-to-day responsibilities that you don’t have the opportunity to see what that’s going to mean from a tax perspective. A lot of people put their heads in the sand and don’t think about it, but more and more clients want to know what things look like in advance and what we can do about it.
