“Not only does it increase patient engagement, but it also makes everything very transparent and gives them the option to shop for cost-effective and quality care,” says Chuck Cerniglia, UnitedHealthcare’s Executive Director for the New Jersey market.
In addition to showing transparent pricing information, the Surest mobile application and member website offers lower copays for providers who historically have offered higher-value care. So, for example, a member looking for a knee surgeon can actively compare their options, allowing them make an informed decision through a digital shopping experience that is similar to what consumers experience in other industries. What’s more, the app makes it easy to schedule provider visits, engage in telehealth, access your summary of benefits, and a copy of your ID card, and more.
“It’s putting health care at your fingertips,” affirms Cerniglia.
The many technological benefits aside, where the Surest health plan is further succeeding is with its ability to simplify matters with its up-front pricing model.
