The most effective community impact manifests when the community itself collaborates, and this instrumental approach has been coordinated by United Way of Greater Mercer County (UWGMC) for over 80 years. Recognizing the multifaceted and always evolving needs of a community, the organization provides extensive resources that support economic mobility, youth opportunity, health and wellness and so much more.
UWGMC partners with businesses, nonprofits, and organizations of all sizes, bringing together legislators, community leaders, families, and individuals to drive meaningful change. As the hub for collective action, it helps align values and resources so that everyone can play a role in strengthening Mercer County.
President and CEO Sandra Toussaint explains that right now, it is essential to get involved by contributing “time, talent and treasure.”
“There’s a lot of change affecting nonprofits right now,” she says. “When businesses are thriving and families feel hopeful about their future, that’s a sign of a strong community. Nonprofits are often the backbone—helping people meet basic needs and getting them on the journey to economic prosperity. Today more than ever, every type of support matters.”
On the horizon, United Way of Greater Mercer County (UWGMC) is offering FREE tax preparation services throughout the county and at its office in Hamilton. And early next year, UWGMC will host its annual United in Impact Awards – an evening that celebrates the contributions of local business ad philanthropic leaders.
“We're an organization that is willing to partner,” says Toussaint. “If you're looking for team-building opportunities, to increase brand awareness or have a measurable impact in the community as a whole, let’s talk.”
