At the end of August, Deborah Heart and Lung Center announced that it had earned a four-star rating in both overall quality and patient experience in the latest Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Quality Star Ratings—a distinction that makes it not only the lone New Jersey hospital with a four-star rating in the two categories but also the highest-rated hospital in Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Mercer and Ocean counties.

Cooper University Health Care received the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines–Gold Plus Quality Achievement Awards in both stroke and heart failure care, an honor it announced early last month. Days later, Cooper also shared that The American College of Cardiology recognized the hospital system for its demonstrated commitment to cardiovascular care with the HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence.

AmeriHealth and Virtua Health teamed up in the latter half of last month to co-host the Senior Health Expo at Camden’s Virtua Health and Wellness Center. The event, which aimed to both improve access to preventive care and address health disparities, invited seniors from both Camden and nearby communities to receive free health screenings, wellness resources and expert guidance.

Earlier this summer, Jefferson Washington Township Hospital announced that it has become the first hospital nationwide to utilize a new FDA-cleared, AI-powered portable MRI system, an acquisition that facilitates more accessible, efficient and higher-quality advanced brain imaging directly at the patient’s bedside. Transforming that complex process by bringing advanced brain imaging directly to the bedside is intended to provide cost savings while improving patient safety.
