
While Da Vinci robots have been in use at medical facilities for decades, Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital reached a significant milestone in early April when one performed surgery for the first time by conducting a cholecystectomy on, or removing the gallbladder from, a South Jersey patient.
The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) recently named Cooper University Hospital as a Center of Excellence in Surgical Safety: Smoke Evacuation. Cooper earned the prestigious Go Clear Award in recognition of its efforts to eliminate the surgical smoke that’s a hazardous byproduct of both laser and electrosurgical procedures.
Last month, it was announced that Deborah Heart and Lung Center’s nuclear medicine department has received renewed nuclear/PET accreditation from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission. The accreditation, which underscores the department’s commitment to exceptional patient care, covers myocardial perfusion imaging, equilibrium radionuclide angiography and other cardiovascular imaging—and is one that the nuclear medicine department has maintained for more than two decades.
