Every company can benefit from having access to not only improved energy use but also upgraded, more efficient equipment, and Atlantic City Electric is here to help.
Since July 2021, Atlantic City Electric has offered a suite of energy efficiency programs specifically designed to help businesses save energy and lower their operating costs. Under the umbrella of Atlantic City Electric’s Energy Solutions for Business program, commercial customers of all sizes and from any industry will find a number of cost-saving offerings made specifically for their needs and goals.
“These programs are designed to help local businesses lower their energy bills by operating more efficiently or replacing old, inefficient equipment,” explains Nick Skari, Atlantic City Electric’s senior program manager of Commercial & Industrial Energy Efficiency Programs. “We’re helping businesses of all sizes identify and then implement strategies to be more efficient and operate in a more energy efficient manner.”
The quintet of Energy Solutions for Business program buckets are: Direct Install, which covers up to 80 percent of total project costs for qualified customers whose peak kilowatt hour demand doesn’t exceed 300kW (Not sure what you use? For those who aren’t sure which aspect of the program is right for them, the Atlantic City Electric team is well-versed in providing proactive assistance to those who are just getting started. Learn more at atlanticcityelectric.com/SNJBusiness.
“We support our customers throughout the entire process: From the initial intake, we guide customers into the program that’s going to help them most,” Skari affirms. “We are committed to being a good corporate partner in the communities we serve, and that’s part of what’s driving our enhanced energy efficiency programs for the next two and a half years.”
And while all options from the overarching program deliver on the promise of saving energy and money through improved efficiency, it also provides customers a better understanding of how to optimize the use of their own equipment as well as connecting them with more cost-saving opportunities.
“The huge benefit of participating in our energy-efficiency programs are the lucrative incentives,” says Skari. “We’ve partnered with the National Energy Improvement Fund and they offer 0% financing up to five years for all of the commercial and industrial program work, and that’s for the amount not already covered by the incentives that the programs offers.”
The services comprising Energy Solutions for Business are already inherently individualized, and they’re also constantly evolving with customers’ demonstrated needs and provided feedback. Interfacing with and listening to customers has led to the development of some new programs coming soon.
Energy Solutions for Business also benefits from Atlantic City Electric’s Trade Allies, all of whom are painstakingly vetted before being approved as a third-party partner. Those “subcontractors in a variety of fields” not only act as liaisons between Atlantic City Electric and its customers, but also help foster the industry relationships that lead to a better, more specific understanding of what today’s utility customers need to succeed.
“For our commercial and industrial programs, a lot of the face time we have with our customers is coming from our network of qualified, vetted and approved Trade Allies,” Skari says. “By identifying and getting a sense of the customers’ needs on the front end, we can help guide them to the Trade Ally that can help them most, and we’re performing inspections and site visits and check-ins throughout the process to make sure everything is going smoothly. And I’d say another benefit of the investment we’re making in these energy efficiency programs is driving work to our network of Trade Allies and stimulating that business.”
“The feedback is quite positive,” Skari notes. “One of our requirements is to report our savings, so we’re very closely tracking the amount of energy we’re saving for each measure installed on each project—it’s a very detailed analysis. When you see an organization like Goodwill saving up to 80% on what could be a many-hundred-thousand-dollars improvement project of a building, it’s a significant cost savings and it really speaks to Atlantic City Electric’s commitment to affordability, customer service and sustainability.”
