The Leapfrog Group, an independent health care watchdog nonprofit organization, recently released its Fall 2023 Hospital Safety Grades Report, which evaluated nearly 3,000 nationwide hospitals on prevention of medical errors, accidents and infections. Among the 67 New Jersey hospitals graded in the report, 24 received an A, 27 earned a B and 16 earned a C.    

A partnership between Virtua Health and The Michaels Organization officially kicked off construction Nov. 1. Oliver Station, a $24 million housing and health care community in Camden’s Whitman Park neighborhood expected to be completed by the end of 2024, will feature high-quality affordable housing, a 6,000-square-foot Virtua medical practice and a variety of community amenities. 

Virtua additionally received a donation from AmeriHealth supporting its Mobile Cancer Health & Screening Unit, a 40-foot, state-of-the-art mobile health care vehicle providing much-needed in-community access to 3D mammography, screenings for various cancers and other services.

Cooper University Health Care announced last month that it is New Jersey’s first hospital to join The Radiation Injury Treatment Network, a national network comprising more than 75 medical centers with expertise in managing casualties from a distant large-scale radiologic incident. Hospitals in the network specialize in treating bone marrow failure and acute radiation syndrome.

On Nov. 16, the state’s health department recognized Inspira Health for both expanding access to care for and improving the health of residents in South Jersey’s rural communities, noting that New Jersey’s nearly 1 million individuals living in small towns and farming communities accounts for 10% of the population. 

Inspira also recently announced that the integration of Salem Medical Center, an Inspira Health affiliate, was complete as of Oct. 1. Rebranded as Inspira Medical Center Mannington, its services include: bariatric; behavioral and mental health; cardiology; emergency; gastroenterology; orthopedics; surgical services; urology; and wound care.

Jefferson Health and Solis Mammography recently established a partnership to revolutionize mammography services across the region, a collaboration that promises exceptional accessibility, precision and patient-centered care.
