For the seventh consecutive year, Cooper University Health Care has earned Star Performer recognition from the Own the Bone program, an honor that the American Orthopaedic Association bestows upon health care organizations nationwide for their initiatives ensuring that osteoporotic-fracture patients receive the highest level of both treatment and care.
Additionally, Cooper University Health Care’s Center for Innovation received a $100,000 grant from the Foundation for Health Advancement to further develop the Antegrade Femoral Artery Entry Device and Sheath. The new medical device designed to aid physicians who perform cardiac catheterizations and similar procedures was invented by two Cooper surgeons, Jeffrey P. Carpenter, MD, chairman and chief of the department of surgery at Cooper, and Katherine K. McMackin, MD, MS, director of vascular surgical research.
Late last month, the city of Woodbury and Inspira Health announced the Woodbury NJ Health and Education Innovation District, an integration of health and economic development intended to improve the community’s quality of life scheduled to begin in early 2024. Headquartered at the former Woodbury hospital campus, the district will include a hotel, conference center, restaurant, retail offerings and senior housing to complement on-campus health care services.
Inspira has also launched two Dispensary of Hope locations, accessible through the pharmacies at its Mullica Hill and Vineland medical centers, which have already helped more than 100 South Jersey residents fill over 300 prescriptions completely free of charge since they began serving patients this year.
Last month, Virtua Health announced that the nationwide health care industry publication Modern Healthcare has named the system’s president and CEO Dennis W. Pullin, FACHE, among its Top Innovators for 2023.
