According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, New Jersey’s GDP fell by 35.6 percent between April 1 and June 30.
Gov. Phil Murphy released $60 million more of CARES Act funding to several New Jersey counties that did not qualify for federal coronavirus relief. Included in that list of counties is Burlington County, which received $8,187,352, Cumberland County, which received $6,391,225 and Gloucester County, which received $4,858,821.
Camden County College will continue its hybrid method of learning through the spring 2021 semester that includes a mix of online and in-person courses.
PSEG’s $1 billion Clean Energy Future proposal has been approved by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities. The program will push toward energy efficiency investments that will put New Jersey into the top five U.S. states for both electric and gas savings.
The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded a total of $75 million of COVID-relief grants to New Jersey communities to combat the coronavirus and alleviate economic hardship.
Earl Enterprises, a hospitality-based company headquartered in Florida, has purchased the Brio Italian Grille restaurant chain and reopened the location in Cherry Hill, which had to shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
New Jersey American Water awarded $950,000 in neighborhood revitalization tax credits to Cooper Health. The funding will be used on projects aimed at improving housing and economic developments in Camden.
Haddon Township’s planning boardhas approved plans for a beer garden, Reunion Hall, to be built on Haddon and Glenwood avenues. The building will be 6,200 square feet and will provide year-round dining.
Atlantic City Electric will award funding to the municipalities of Medford, Clementon, Hammonton, Waterford and Wenonah to support open space and resiliency projects. Medford will receive $10,000 and the remaining townships will receive $5,000 to help improve their communities.
Ross Stores and Planet Fitness are opening at Burlington’s Liberty Square Center between October and the first quarter of 2021. Another national retailer, Five Below, opened in June.
Jaws Youth Playbook has donated $10,000 to the School Counts program, a scholarship program run by Rowan College of South Jersey’s Cumberland County campus.
The Camden County Office of Mental Health and Addiction was awarded two grants totaling $290,000 to address and study opioid abuse.
Rowan College of South Jersey was ranked as having the second-best nursing program in the Northeast region by NursingProcess.org out of 536 nursing schools.
The Stokelan Winery is planning to open at a country house in Medford by the end of the year.
Regal Cinemas is set to close all of its theaters across the U.S., including 11 in New Jersey.
Woolpert announced the opening of a new office in Egg Harbor Township at the National Aviation Research and Technology Park, an aviation technology nonprofit based out of Stockton University. It will serve as its aviation and unmanned aircraft systems hub.
The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development announced it has distributed $16.2 billion in unemployment benefits since the beginning of the pandemic nearly seven months ago.
New Jersey Community Capital (NJCC) received a $1.15 million grant from the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund. With the grant, NJCC will help improve the quality and supply of affordable housing in low-income communities across New Jersey.
Gov. Murphy announced the launch of the Spanish language version of the Business.NJ.gov website, which aims to help businesses looking to start up in New Jersey.
Bed Bath and Beyond Inc. is set to sell its Christmas Tree Shops, Linen Holdings business and a distribution center located in Florence in separate agreements valued at approximately $250 million.
PSEG, alongside a Rutgers University program entitled the Center on Policing, announced a joint initiative that aims to improve police departments’ relationships with communities of color. Additionally, the PSEG Foundation will give $300,000 to fund the Community Engagement Police Reform Program.
Atlantic Cape Community College will receive a federal grant of $1,740,010 from the U.S. Department of Education to help students succeed and graduate in college.
